27.01:
I received this lovely little story of one of
Amy's doings again. The
Norwegian version has been put under "Hva
er en Basenji", whilst I have permitted myself to translate it into
English, so that even the international readers on this site can enjoy this
little story of the everyday-life with a Basenji in the house:
"For the first time in my life, I purchased two of those "Squeeky" toys
for my doggies last Christmas (2008), with the hope that they might amuse my
flatcoated retriver a bit. The poor over- energic rascal needs all the
entertainment he can get the 2 days a week both I and my husband are away
for work (we normally have home offices, so I do think the doggies are quite
lucky that way).
The squeeky toys were
not any direct hit with the doggies. Little Basenji found them to be
completely un- interesting, and the flat didn't chew on them hard enough for
them to make a sound. When I made them squeak for him, he found them to be
quite scary (he is most definatly not the bravest dog you'll see). After a
little while, though, things started to loosen up when the flat realized he
could make the toys squeek by stepping on them, and I , in all my stupidity,
encouraged him further by rewarding him for every squeak...
Today, both my husband and I had been away for work, and before I left, I
placed the two squeaky toys on the floor so that the flat would have
something to play with (along side with the other toys). When I returned
home again after work, I found the two squeaky toys placed neatly on my
window-shelf in our living room. Our windows are quite high set on the
wall, so I was really puzzled as to how they had ended up there. It really
was a mystery!
Oh well, I didn't think to much about it, and placed the toys back on the
floor where a happy flat started to step on them so that they squeeked. The
little Basenji (who up until this point had been comfortably lying in front
of the hot fire-place) reacted immediately, and rushed over to the flat- who
backed of 5 feet. The little Basenji took first the hamburger squeaky ( a
beauuutiful plastic hamburger- double cheeseburger with dressing!) walked
over to the window, and placed it neatly on the shelf. She then repeated the
procedure with the other toy ( a poison- green bone), before she returned to
her spot in front of the fire, and released a satisfied sigh of well- being.
Mystery solved!
As evil as I am, I took the toys down and gave them to the flat once again,
and the little Basenji repeated the whole charade.
So then I thought- as the evil Basenji owner I am- thar this ought to be
captured on film. I find my camera, and place the squeeky toys on the floor
once again, but now the little Basenji didn't bother to care any more. She
just stayed put on her spot, while she kept sending our flat "the ugly
eye...". I guess she just doesn't care much for those toys...."

19.01: We visited Jeanette & Erling @ kennel
Doberguard
yesterday, to see the lovely puppies after "Sunny" and "Dee-Dee" and BOY, were they
beautiful, as you can see for yourself:

Doberguard's Master litter. One of the 3 girls will
join the Kingwana team :)
Sindre also enjoyed visiting the Basenji babies:

Playing results in good sleeping for the two babies :)
More pictures of Sindre & the puppies can be seen in his
January album.

Sindres family tree,
and added a photo of "B-gjeng- Dennis" (Dennis the criminal) in the
photoalbum.
11.01: We have had a wonderful weekend at the double all breed
show in Leto hallen. For the first time, Sindre also attended the show (it
is about time he get's socialized, or what?), and he seemed quite content.

Wenche, Me & Sindre sitting ringside. As an anekdote, Sindre is wearing
the same clothes as
his father did some 30 + years ago; they are made by his grand-ma.
You can see more pics of him at the show in his
PAGE (in the January
album. His "pedigree" is also updated) We also had a great time with all of
our Basenji friends. Thanks to both Jeanette, Kari, Svein, Wenche,
Gerd, Kicko, Jørn & Dorthe for a wonderful time and help both with Sindre,
Dogs and photographing. It is so great when we all stick together!
