Kamar
Kingwanas Into The Wind was also shown, and he won BOB puppy once again with a great critique. It was a huge gruop (I counted 18 pups in the group), so I did not have huge expectations, but little Kamar placed himself BIG3!

28.12: The pups are growing fast!

26.12:
We have puppies! I have always had easy deliveries witout ever needing veterinary assistence, but not this time...
Mille gave birth to a beautiful black/white boy with absolutely perfect drawings and of good size (240 g) on Dec. 22nd 11.15 AM. It was an easy birth, and everything went smoothly.

Mille with her newborn son, only an hour old.

From the X-rays taken prios to birth we knew that Mille had two pups.
However, after the first boy, Mille seemed totally finnished. She layed down in a very relaxed manner nursing and taking care og her newborn son. 1 hour went by. 2 hours. 3 hours, and not even a sign of a single contraction. If I didn't know  there should be another one in there I would have thought she was finnished.
3 hours after the boy was born we took Mille and her newborn son to the vet. clinic. A new set of x-rays confirmed: There was still a puppy in there!
We tried acupuncture, oxitixin shots, calium shots, massage etc. Mille did not have a single contraction, and we were certain the pup was dead, and that was the reason as to why it did  not come out. Just to make sure, we took ultrasound.... and guess what we saw? A little heart beating quite clearly!
We really did not want to take a C-section, so we wanted to try one more thing: I was sent home, and gave Mille some rest, peace and quiet for some hours. That didn't help either. We were not sure if the pup would survive until the next morning, so in the late evening/ night we went back down to the vet, where Milles beautiful baby girl was born with C-section! She was tired, but very much alive! She weighed 170 g, so quite a bit smaller then the male.

Milles gorgeous baby girl!

To me, the male is PERFECTLY drawed. The bitch is not "perfect", but I LOOOVE her drawings! So many funny little details, like "Tre's kiss" on her head, a split- head (the collar and blaze are joint), and a lovely large white collar with a black "snake" going in. There are no-one like her <3

They will get their individual pages with more photos shortly.

Sindre & Magnus are enjoying having pups here agian!

02.10:
Yesterdaay morning, I was so sad as this was the last morning with our little "Lykke".  We were going to drive to meet her new owners who had flewn all the way from Lithuania to pick her up. They will name her Gabija, or Gabbi for short, wich is the goddess of fire. Suits nicely to her pedigree name  Kingwanas Illusion Of Fire!
It was sooo nice to meet her new owners Jorji & Stella! They even brought us LOADS of presents! We are not used to this, it was so unexpected and very nice!
We got a delicious HUGE Lithuanian cake, some very nice liquor, a whole bag full of treats and toys for the boys, a lovely book about Lithuania and warm welcomes to come and visit them (we hope to do so!) not to mention a BEAUTIFUL canvas printout of our elements-litter, with the words "Kingwanas Basenji" written with black and yellow rocks at the bottom. Soo nice!
It will get a nice place in our livingroom! Sindre was very proud holding it in the nice autumn weather. We also had a little walk and took some pictures of Gabbi with her new owners. More pics can be seen on Gabbis page (link above).

Gabbi & Stella.

22.09: Dag was working at the nat. show in Moss last weekend. We had no Kingwana dogs entered, but we practised with Gabija (prev. Lykke) (Kingwanas Illusion Of Fire) after the show, and judge Dagmar Klein agreed to practise with us and give us a written critique. She wrot fell completely in love with her, and wrote the following:

"Excellent type. Beautiful head. Feminin expression. Perfect proportions of head. Excellent elegant neck. Correct topline. Perfect angulation behind. Very stabil correct pastern. Correct front. Beautiful underline. Excellent attractive elegant mover. Outstanding nice temperment."

I have attached the article as a PDF file:
Article about the basenjibreed written by Liv Irene N.Lie.
You are allowed to share the atricle where you'd like as long as you refer to the owner "Hundesport" and "Norsk Basenji Klubb" as well as the author. Hope you like it!

I have also placed the article under "Basenji- Basenji information". It is only available in Norwegian.

Amalie & "Otto"
(Kingwanas Hellblazer Of D'Guard) did it once again! At their last puppyshow, a double show hosted by the Danis "Spidshundklubben", Otto went BOB and BEST IN SHOW puppy both days! This is their 4th BIS -puppy. In addition they have a BIS all ages and two BIS 2nd's!. What a team :-) Will be exciting to see how they do in the adult classes shortly.

08.08:
Huge congratulations to Amalie & "Otto"  (Kingwanas Hellblazer Of D'Guard) attended a show in Denmark and were BOB puppy and Best In Show -2 puppy under judge Birgitte Schjøth!
He got the following critique:
"Incridible wonderful puppy, extremely well built over all and moves superbly from all sides. Very nicely cut head, strong correct bite with a full set of teeth. Well set ears. The eyes should grow a bit bigger. Good neck and topline. Well set tail which curls upp perfectly. Excellent coat.": Birgitte Schjøth, BOB; BIS-2, DKK 07.08.2011.

Amalies daughters also entered in the ring with him in the "child and dog" competitions, and 6 year old Victoria won the child under 8 year competition, and Philippa went 3rd in the class for the ones over 8 years!

Otto and Victoria won the child & dog competition, and Otto was BIS-2 at the puppyshow!

07.08: Greetings from Kamar (Kingwanas Into The Wind) who is enjoying spending time with his new family, included his new buddy "Pøbel" the flatcoated retriever!

04.08:  New pictures -also individual-of the pups on their pages. They are 8 weeks tomorrow. Man, how time flies! These pups are amazingly sweet, tailwagging, confident and happy. As I have been used to considerably larger amounts of pups at home, plus the fact that these are here in summertime, and are able to spend a lot of time outside, it's hardly been any work at all. I will be very sad to see them go- as will Sindre, who has been sooo clever with them. It is just touching to watch him handle them.
However, I do know the owners are very much looking forward to get their new family memeber home! Snute & Kamar will leave today. Sniff will leave on tuesday. We will fortunately be able to have Lykke a few extra weeks as she is going all the way to Lithuania!

Lykke, Snute, Kamar & Sniff 8 weeks old.

We also went to the vet today, where they got their vaccinations, ID chip and health-sertificates, and they are all as healthy and vital as a pup can be :)

26.07:
We visited Utøya today, which is only about a 40 min. drive from us. It was very special to see, feel and cry looking out at the same place the horrible massacre happened only a few days ago.
I placed the photos in the same album as our trip to Oslo.

Sindre with Utøya in the background.

24.07:
I do not have many words to explain the events of July 22nd in Oslo and at Utøya. We have been to Oslo to express our sympathy and love. I think one of the surviving youths from Utøya explained it the best. "If one man can show all this hatred. Imagine how much love we can show together."
A picture says more then a 1000 words. You are welcome to have a look in our album showing our visit to Oslo on July 23rd. Though no Basenjis came with us to Oslo this day, I really want to share this with you as it is the one thing on most Norwegians think about these days, and my blog does not seem to be working.
Together we will create a safe world for our children with democracy, tolerism, empathy, and love.

22.07: The one who could be a litle puppy in times like these. Without a single worry in the world, and able to fall asleep on a broomstick.

Snute

21.07:
New pictures -also individual-of the pups on their pages. They are getting to darn cute. They are spending a lot of time outside if the weather is nice, and have tremendous joy smelling the flowers, chasing insects and running & playing in our yard along with Mille & Luna (My mum is watching our Bambi while the pups are here).
You can also see a video of the pups playing outside this morning here.

Lykke, Sniff, Kamar & Snute

It has also been decided that the tri boy previously known as "Tassen" will be co-owned by us and live with friends at Gjøvik. His new name will be "Kamar".
Kamar means "Moon" in arabic. His mothers name is "Luna", which also mean Moon. If you swap his fathers name "Karma" around, you'll also ge Kamar. Ideal name, right?

Kingwanas Into The Wind "Kamar" 6 weeks old.

The names of the girls will be revealed once we know who is going where, but they are all decided.
One girl is still looking for a forever home. Co-ownership can be discussed.

They have also gotten their preliminary nicknames, named by Sindre.

05.07:
Sindre  is exctatic about having the åuås home with us. He is very gentle with them, and it is quite obvious he knows how to handle pups and dogs. He is very caring and loooves to sit with them (unnder supervision of course) patting them carefully and sings for them (!!!). Luna loves the attention too, and Sindre is careful to pat her just as much. Here Sindre had placed the pups carefully on his lap himself, and called me while saying; "Mummy, come take a photo!" Individual pics of the pups will come tomorrow.

04.07: The pups  along with their mummy Luna and "auntie" Mille are now home with us! They have grown quite a bit, are walking carefully around, and have setteled nicely in their new home. They slept the whole way here- didn't hear a peep!
I took the pic below before departing from Ellen & Lars. More pics will follow within the next few days!

04.07:
We have been on a vacation to Hunderfossen/ Lillehammer. The boys' albun will be updated shortly!

30.06:
Yet another pic of the pups with their eyes open. Hello little ones. Aren't they just adorable??

Pic. by Ellen Kvernmo.

28.06:
The pups   are growing and developing very nicely. They are all gaining weight, and are now all well over 850g, getting close to 1 kg. Their eyes have started to open, and they are wabbling carefully around in the puppypen making awfully cute noises.
We will get them here on Monday, and I am very excited! Can't wait to have small pups running around in our yard in summer. We have no big plans except hanging around here with the kids and pups. Sounds like a great summer to me!
Ellen & Lars are doing such a great job with the pups at the moment. They have all had their claws cut a few times already, and are as I said gaining weight very nicely looking fit and healthy.
Ellen sent us this photo taken yesterday. More will come once the pups move home to us!

28.06: Summergreetings from Haki (Kingwanas Happy Hunter Of D'Guard)& Kairo (Kingwanas Handsome Kairo Of D'Guard)! Such handsome boys...

Kasko (Kingwanas Gentle WinterKnight) is also sending a greeting:

19.06: The pups  have turned 9 days old, and we had a very nice lunch together with Ellen, Lars, Milly, Luna and the pups today. Even though they were cute enough to eat, Hot Dogs were not on the meny. I am after all a vegetarian. More pics on the pups pages!

I have to thank Helen Veless once again, for so many things. First of all for letting me buy Sunnys semen- it has truly resulted in some wonderful basenjis! Secondly for coming to visit, I've REALLY enjoyed your company, and hope to visit you sometime in Australia, or at least to meet you again. Too bad we live so far apart! Secondly for doing such an amazing job with the handling of your "grandkids". It is a true joy to watch you handle them!

Helen with Kingwanas Happy Hunter. Best In Show at the Norwegian Speciality 2011. Owned by Sissel Heier & Terrie Miller. Haki also won Best Head & Best Gait In show (allages) - And he is only 6 months old...

I also want to thank all of our puppybuers who came to show their dogs and be social. You do such a great job with them!
Thanks also to the co-breeder of our D'Guard litter, Jeanette Strand for letting us use Giza. I think we can agree that the result hit our excpectations.
The last thank goes to the entire "working crew". This show has been so wonderful, and I know the amount of work that is behind it. Thank you to everyone who contributed, especially my husband Dag Christer, our ringsecretary Kurt Espeland and Jeanette Strand. I know you have been working your "asses" off- both before and after this show. THANK YOU! - And thanks to everyone else who contributed

I have as usual made a picture album of the speciality. It can be seen here.
I have also made a video of Haki winning BEST IN SHOW.It can be seen here.  .

A big congrats is sent to ALL winners, especially of course to the BIS adult Ch Doberguard's Maya Mssterpiece- also a Sunny daughter,  BOS & new norwegian/nordic Ch Zahleke Emilie Emilion. New N u Ch Karimbas Molly Moon and the BOS puppy Moyomena Zelda Waridi.

10.06: Lunas puppies
are here! She had 1 tricolor boy and 3 red/white females. They all had a birthweight of excactly 200g, so quite an even litter. They are all healthy and beautifully marked. Luna is a super mummy just like the last time. They will live with Ellen & lars for the first 3 weeks, and then they will move here. They have gotten their own pages.

08.06: We have got a lovely visit from Helen Veless of Afrikenji Basenjis/ Australia!
She will be joining us to the speciality where she will be able to see many of her beautiful boy Aus Gr Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight's offspring. We are thrilled to have you here!
After the speciality she will also visit Jeanette and Erling at Doberguard.

Haki & Matheo.

02.06:
"Otto"  (Kingwanas Hellblazer Of D'Guard) attended a show in Denmark.
The show was a bit different from what we are used to as the puppy winners were allowed to compete altso with the adult winning dogs in the end. Otto ended up being awarded as the most beautiful dog there- regardless of age- and he has not even turned 6 months of age!
He was first BOB baby Basenji, then he went all the way to BEST IN SHOW Baby. After this he competed against the BOB winners if ALL ages and went BEST IN GROUP.However, his winning strike didn't stop here. After his BIG (all ages) win he went BEST IN SHOW all ages!! It was quite a big show with over 200 entries. We are so proud of you, Amalie and Otto! Breed judge was Birgitte Thielman and BIS BABY, BIG and BEST IN SHOW judge Henny Andersen.

Otto in the spotlight, winning BOB, BIS baby, BIG (all ages) and BEST IN SHOW (all ages!)

Video of Otto can be seen here.

02.06: Ottos brothers
Kairo (Kingwanas Handsome Kairo Of D'Guard),  Pocus  (Kingwanas Hocus Pocus Of D'Guard ) and  Haki (Kingwanas Happy Hunter Of D'Guard) were also stars today. However, not at a show, but at NKK's new promotion video! We will hopefully be able to show you the result in the end of the summer. I have some videoclips myself aswell from the day, but I am not allowed to publish them just yet as they might be used in the film. You can however get a sneekpeek at some of the pics:

30.05:
It has been a very nice show-weekend for the Kingwanas team!
On Sunday, we got up early, picked up Lisbeth and Zia and drove to Hadeland HK's puppyshow at Lunner.  Zia  (Kingwanas Hot Shadow Of D'Guard), who was a bit scared the last time at a show was her confident happy self again, and really charmed the judge.
She got a great critique and was BOB.

Myself and Dag had to leave to get to my mums surprise 70th birthdayparty, but Lisbeth handled Zia herself in the (big and jointed) group to BIG-2! Well done!!

Lisbeth and Zia with the BOB ribbon.

AT Støren HK's nat show,  Krona, Kingwanas Glory Of The Spotlight got excellent 1, ck, CC, and BOS under judge Terje Lindstrøm  on saturday. BOB was Aboteres Zharim, handled by Jeanette. He became a new Norwegian & Danish champion! Congrats!
On Sunday, Krona got excellent 1, ck, CC, BOB and BEST IN GROUP -3 under judge Kari Granaas Hansen! Congrats Krona & Ingrid!

Luna is however VERY pregnant, and pups are excpected June 15th! Pics of pregnant Luna will come shortly!

24.05: Another pic of our precious, lovalble and strange little Bambi:

08.05:
At NKK Int. show in Kristiansand under judge Jens Ramsing (DK) Roxy (Kingwanas Foxy Femme Fatale) was 2nd best bitch with excellent, ck, CC and res. Cacib! This is young Roxys 3rd Big" (international) CC and 6th CC alltogether!  Loke (JWW-08 N u Ch  Kingwanas Exhausting Federal Xpress) won the championclass with excellent, but didn't get the ck. Cobgrats Annika & Jorunn!
Roxys critique (translated):
"Medium sized, harmonic built, correct proportion, correct bite, well set and carried ears, excellent neck, topline and angulations. Corecctly carried tail, free, paralell movemenst front and rear. Excellent temperment. "

01.05: At the show in Letohallen, under judge Annette Bystrup, there were 8 pups and 6 adults entered. The judge had a judge student as well, and I loved the way our judge of the day handled and treated the basenjis and my heart leaped with joy to hear the things she explained to her pupil, expecially the fact that one should never pull out a a basenji tail! KUDOS! If only all basenji judges knew...
First out today was the puppy males. Harriet  came over with  Pocus
(Kingwanas Hocus Pocus Of D'Guard ) and Terrie brought Haki (Kingwanas Happy Hunter Of D'Guard) and Kairo (Kingwanas Handsome Kairo Of D'Guard.) Jeanette also showed her lovely male "Mike" (Dobergurad's Master Of Miracle).  The judge had a tough time deciding, and said this was a "pick from the top shelf" as they were all of superb quality, which was reflected in their wonderful critiques.

Haki on the table

Haki won and became best puppy male, with Mike 2nd, Kairo 3rd and Pocus 4th. Thank you Erling/ Netti for handling Pocus and Kurt Espeland for handling Kairo!
Haki BOS at his first show. The BOB bitch was a nice moving girl from Moyomena.

A special thanks goes out to Terrie and Harriet for bringing the boys. Hope you enjoyed your first time at a show! It is always so nice with new faces around the ring.

In the puppy female class, I showed Zia
(Kingwanas Hot Shadow Of D'Guard) she is such a sweet girl who yodels and wags her tail to everyone, but for some reason she drops her tail on the table  and screams when touched on the back (the front is fine). We will have it checked out to see she is not in pain and train her a bit. She was placed 4th in puppyclass due to this.

Lisbeth and Terrie (holdong Tara) at left and Harriet with Pocus on the right. Pics by Jeanette Strand.

In the adult class, I only showed Tara
(Kingwanas Fairy Of Tails) she won her class with excellent and ck over her sister Gudrun (Kingwanas Fabulous Unicorn) who also got excellent and ck!  In the best female class, the judge had a very tough time deciding who to place for best bitch, but finally decided on the junior bitch, making Tara 2nd best bitch with res. CC and Gudrun 3rd best bitch.

Sweet Tara!

Fogo
(Kingwanas
Flirting Figaro ) was shown by Vibeke who had her show debut in the basenji ring this weekend and did very well, being placed as 3rd best male with excellent and ck. Well done Vibeke!
Congrats also to all winners!

BOB both days, and BIG-2 on Sunday, Shahrans Phatom Of The Opera.

01.05: At Sør-Rogaland Brukshundklubb/ Orre,
Roxy (Kingwanas Foxy Femme Fatale) got excellent under judge (?).

01.05: At Sunndal HK's show, Krona,
Kingwanas Glory Of The Spotlight got excellent 1, ck, CC, BOB and BEST IN GROUP -2! Congrats Krona & Ingrid!

30.04: At Letohallen under judge Carl-Gunnar Stafberg, Zia  (Kingwanas Hot Shadow Of D'Guard) was 4th best puppy bitch. Fogo (Kingwanas Flirting Figaro ) won his class with excellent and ck- and was finally 2nd best male with ck and res. CC. He was beautifully handled by Vibeke. Great job on your show debut! Tara (Kingwanas Fairy Of Tails) wasn't this judges type and for the first time ever she did not get her ck. but got Very Good.

Vibeke and Fogo.

25.04:

Loke BOB, BIG, and 2 BEST IN SHOW.

Roxy BOS with CC.

14.04: It has been some truly hectic days. It started on Monday when Ellen took the mothers to be, Mille & Luna to the vet for a bloodtest to see how far they were. Last time Luna was on day 15, and Luna on day 21 when they mated, so we thought it would be excellent to test them when they were on day 13/14.
It proved right on Luna. Her perfect day was still day 15- the day we had booked the flight from Finland. Phew! However, Milles levels were sky high- she was MANY days after ovulation, and the vets thought it was way too late to breed.
However, I still had to try, and got in the car as quickly as I could, met Ellen on the way, and drove towards Malmø/ Sweden. We arrived in the early night-time, and managed a breeding with some help, but the vets seemed quite certain it was so late, it will not result in puppies. We'll see if we can prove them wrong. If not, we'll try again this fall. Pups expected June 13th.
In my hurry, I forgot my camera, but Christina took this nice pic of the (hopefully) excpecting parents. Thank you for taking us in so late, Christina! It was also great to meet Milles son from her last litter (Geno, Kingwanas General Hits The Target) he is developing nicely!

On Wednesday, the Finnish delegation of Helena Sarpola and Karma (Fin S Ch Fin V-10 Bulldobas Catch The Wind) arrived. It was love at first sniff between him and Luna, and pups are expected June 15th.

Afther the "marriage", the newlyweds celebrated with a honeymoon to the quite famous Vigelandparken in Oslo.  They enjoyed the attractions like real tourists:

You can see more photos of Luna & Karmas honeymoon here. Thanks so much to Helena for bringing him over to Norway (we weren't able to come to Finland, as Lunas rabies bloodtest had not come back yet). It was so nice to have you both here for a few days! Thanks also to Tipi for, well.. everything.

10.04:
In Bergen Int. KC show,  Roxy (Kingwanas Foxy Femme Fatale) went BOB with CC and Cacib under judge Arne Foss! She was also picked out among the 6 best in the group ring in very tough competition. Congratulations Annika & Roxy!

10.04: In Finland, little Miss Alli (Kingwanas Greatest Story Of All) was shown under judge Svein Helgesen, and was Excellent 2. She is such a beautiful little lady!

08.04: Because Luna started her season sooner then expected, we have not managed to get her intended man "Renes" Hip result back in time from the finnish Kennel klub. Even though the risk of him having anything but A or B' is minimal, we just didn't want to risk anything. At least not when there was an obvious candidate to use instead- who had all health results ready,  and carried the excact same genes, and is just as pretty and well mannered. We are going to use Renes litter brother "Karma", Fin S Ch Fin V-10 Bulldobas Catch The Wind instead!
Read more about it here.

Fin S Ch Fin V-10 Bulldobas Catch The Wind.

07.04:Greetings from "Tre" (Meisterhaus Tail Of Intrigue)- The father of our F litter and Milles future litter- together with "Geno"  (Kingwanas General Hits The Target)- Milles son. Mille & Tre will be a couple- hopefully in next week!
Luna started her season only one day after Mille, so next week will be a hectic one...

07.04:
Have a look at this lovely article, where different basenjijudges speak of their alltime favorite basenjis. I was thrilled to see many of them shared my view, and two of them also mentioned the great Aus Gr Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight as one of their top 3 of all times. We are so proud to include him in our lines!
Link to the article.

04.04:
We have updates Sindre & Magnus' spring album with pics from Magnus' baptism (dåp).

Magnus & Sindre

31.03:
Greeting from Kasko (Kingwanas Gentle WinterKnight) who has become a rider, getting more and more comfortable by the day.

Kasko & Lady.

30.03: We have decided to have selective memory when it comes to having two litters at once, and will breed BOTH Mille & Luna this summer. Mille started her season today, and we suspect Luna is not far behind. We have thought about this and have had the male ready for quite a while, but haven't been able to make up our mind. However, when Mille started her season today, and we have a few buyers very interested in her lines too, we decided to go for it. It will be nice with summer litters after all! Read more aboout our planned litters here.

29.03:
"Geno" (Kingwanas General Hits The Target) & Roxy (Kingwanas Foxy Femme Fatale) HD results both came back as A (Excellent)!

28.03:
I would like to share this pic of Bambi and Sindre playing together with Sindres car. To tremendous joy for them both. Sindre has been giggeling sooo hard, and Bambi Baroos, takes bows and spins around. Not bad for an 8 year old lady?
The point of the game was of course to have the car in the mouth for the longest time. Sindre won, but Bambi was close behind and a very good looser.

27.03:
Zia (Kingwanas Hot Shadow Of Doberguard)  came to visit, and I must say she is developing in to a beautiful lady!

26.03:
More photo greetings!

09.02:
Billy was put to sleep yesterday. It all happened so quickly, it has not really dawned to us yet- we are still in shock and mourning.
He has been slowly more and more ill. We took him to the vet about 4 weeks ago as he suddendly had high fever and vomited blood. The vet thought it might be a normal cough, and sent us home again with a subsription for anthibiotics.
His fever returned to normal, and the vomiting stopped, but still something seemed wrong. Billy - who had always been our overly happy, tailwagging furball suddendly seemed depressed. He gradually stopped eating and became a bit careless. We tried huge efforts to make him eat, and it seemed like he wanted to- but he just didn't manage in the end. If he did eat- he would vomit it up again.
We took him to the vet again on monday, and the vet. examined him for over 2 hours without having come to a conclusion, and wanted him to come back the next day. On tuesday afternoon he was diagnosed with cancer. It was all over his lunges and chest, and the cancer was also pushing against his
esophagus. There was nothing to be done. We asked if we could have him home just one last night to say goodbye, but the vet. adviced us not to, as poor Billy was in pain- so he was put to sleep that day. Rest in peace our sweetest bouncing furball. We will never forget your smile, your bark, your wagging tail. -Or the way you were to our kids. Both the ones on two and 4 legs. We will also miss the way you warned us when the basenjis were mischivous. Thank you, Billy. For everything. We love you.

07.02:
We have been on another national double dog show, hosted by Norsk Schnauser Bouvier Klub on saturday, and by Norsk Lahsa Apso Klubb on Sunday.
Dag was hired as the technical chief for the Lahsa club, so we had a wonderful weekend with the "crew" at Helsfyr hotel.
On saturday, the judge was the danish judge Leif Lehmann Jørgensen. From the Kingwana team,  Fogo (Kingwanas Flirting Figaro), his sister Tara (Kingwanas Fairy Of Tails), Krona (Kingwanas Glory Of The Spotlight) and Kee-Kee (Doberguards Master Key To Kingwana).
Kee-Kee has just turned two years, and was standing for her champion title.
Fogo was first out in jr. male class, and was excellently handled by Netti to excellent 2 with ck and 3rd best male. I handled Tara in jr. females, and I could tell the judge truly liked her. She won the class with excellent and ck, and a marvellous critique. Krona gort excellent 3 in jk.
Kee-Kee was up next, and she won the open class with excellent. Even though Kee-Kee was standing for her title, we felt Tara had a better chance at winning, and there were other nice bitches with ck too, so Netti handled Tara in best bitch class- and they won- earning young Tara her third CC. Kee-Kee was 3rd best bitch. Tara ended up being BOS, beaten by Matabichi Fahari Zola who was BOB. Thank you Netti for excellent handling assistance. I just love to see you handle Tara. You truly bring out the best in her!

Tara BOS, Zola BOB both with CC.

On Sunday
, we had a Canadian judge I have never shown dogs to before named Fred Dewsburry. The same Kingwana team was present.
I handled Fogo today (thank you Jørgen, it was great fun!). Fogo is a real teenager just full of mischief. He i a youngster sooo full of energy, and truly lives up to his name "Kingwanas Flirting Figaro" as he flirts with EVERYONE. Both people and animals. Such a lovely, lovely temeperd young man, even though he might learn to take the playtime OUTSIDE the ring *lol*

Fogo flirting with Fila at left, and the Flirting Figaros head at right.

Fogo won the jr. class with excellent in front of yesterdays BOB winner Zola, and was finally 2nd best male with res. CC.

Fogo winning jr. class

The females was up next, and in the jr. class it was almost reverse order as yesterday. Krona won with excellent/ ck, and Tara was 3rd with excellent/ck.
Kee-Kee won open class with excellent again.
I glimpsed a hope of her earning the title, but she was beaten on the finnishline by Krona (Kingwanas Glory Of The Spotlight), and ended up 2nd best bitch with res- CC.
Krona has matured truly beautifully, and deserved the win. Congrats Ingrid & Krona! They eneded up being BOS with young Kronas 5th CC!

Thank you all for a lovely weekend!

I also got reports that little miss Alli (Kingwanas Greatest Story Of All) was 2nd best bitch in a nat. show in Finland! Congratulations!

31.01: It didn't take long to find a wonderful new home for Pocus. He will now live with Harriet, who is the mother of Terrie- one of Kairos owners. So the two brothers will grow up knowing eacother, and I am sure they will have tremendous joy out of it!

I'd also like to share these pics of Tara & Zia playing/sleeping together. The two girls *(both co-owned by us) are the best of friends already:

30.01:
All the pups have now left for their new homes, and it is getting very empty here...
It is however great to get reports from all- and even some pictures that they all are doing wonderful and has managed the transmission to their new homes superbly. Thank you so much for these reports!
Jeanette has come to the very hard decision that she will try to sell Pocus as she has so many promising males at the moment.
So, Pocus (Kingwanas Hocus Pocus Of D'Guard)  is for sale- preferably to a show home, but the most important thing is of course he comes to a loving and understanding home. He is a very happy, confident and handsome dude! He is pictured on the right. You can contact us, or Jeanette.

27.01:
Three of the pups will leave today. Anton, Zia & Pocus.
Anton will be a hunting dog and live in Magnor. Pocus will move back to kennel Doberguard and live with Jeanette & Erling, while Zia will move to our neighbour Lisbeth & Tara (from ourr F litter) and be co-owned with us.
We will miss you all so much! But at least we will see Pocus & Zia quite often both on our spare time & on shows.
Here is a little video of ou Doberguard H litter 3-7 weeks.

23.01:
We have had loads of lovely visits from puppybuyers this weekend. Terrie and Sissel came to visit their Kairo, Lisbeth & Thea came to visit Zia, and "MiniGiza"s new owners came to visit. MiniGizas new name will be "Anton". Thank you all for coming to visit. We are confident you will give our babies the best possible homes :)
All the pups are now sold to lovely homes, but we might be looking for a co-owner for a promising male in our area.

Pocus wonderes who is coming to visit this time.

We have also had time to do a photoshoot, and had loads of good help:

Sindre and Billy helping out in the photosession. Zia is on the table.

Puppies run fast. Even for my camera who takes pis in the split of a second. Some accidents turn out to be pretty cool nevertheless:

20.01:
We have had a visit of a couple of our puppybuyers with friends/ family again, and had a wonderful time playing with the pups, talking and eating hot buns (which the adult dogs thought they should get waaaay more often).

Bambi proving she doesn't beg for food?

20.01:
The pups have settled nicely, and we just LOVE to have them here. They are just so amazingly sweet, and NOTHING can be compared to puppybreath, puppykisses and puppyyodels! They LOOOVE to play with Sindre- and the joy is mutual.

Sindre and the pups playing together.

Can you imagine a better sight to wake up to then this?

The rest of the names'7owners  have been released on the pups pages !

18.01:
I picked up Amalie from Denmark at the airport, and we drove together to Jeanette and boy had the puppies grown since I last saw them!
They were sooo playful and had matured in a very nice way. The hours flew by with puppywatchin, picture taking and eating (Netti had made her wonderful lasagne... delicious!). Amalie picked out her chioce of the litter- one of my favorites: "Bukken" will from now on be called Kingwanas Hellblazer Of D'Guard, Otto for short. He wil be showing his paws a lot in the rings, and we are very excited about seeing how he does! We are certain he will have a wonderful time with the Hindal family in Denmark. Then it was time for us to leave. We had been careful to activate the pups quite a bit before departure, so they slept the entire way home. It is so great to have them here, and I am sooo excited about getting to know them even better. Our adult dogs are behaving very well with them- and Sindre is exctatic about having "Baby voff voff'er" in the house. I have to thank Netti once again for the outstanding job you have done with these pups. You are truly one of a kind. I will do my very best to continue your wonderful work!

One more puppy has gotten to know where his new home will be. "Halvdan Svarte" will from now on be called "Kingwanas Happy Hunter" - Happy for short. He will live in the south of Norway together with his family. He might show his paws a bit, but will mostly be a family pet.
I still need a few days to figure out the remaining.... It is not easy!

The pups pages have all been updated with pics, as has Sindre & Magnus winter album.

17.01: Tomorrow I will  drive to Gardermoen to pick up a puppybuyer form abroad who is coming over for the day just to visit the pups. When we return again, we will take the pups with us to Grua. I am sure our adult dogs here are looking forward to some puppy socialization! We sure are! Jeanette (& Erling) has done SUCH a wonderful job with them. I am certian a puppy could never have a better start in their lives then with them- Jeanette devotes her entire time to her dogs and makse sure they ALL have excactly what they need- of care, food, love, socialization, training  and playtime. Now we will try to follow up her wonderful work these last few days/ weeks before the puppies leave for their new homes.
I can't thank Jeanette enough for what she has done. You are a true friend!
The owners and names of the puppies will most likely be published here on wednesday or thursday, so stay tuned!

Our 7 pups together with the 5 Doberguard pups. Such a wonderful sight!

We have also had a visit from Tara, and Sindre & Magnus' winteralbum is updated.

Tara & Sindre.

11.01: Here is the video
of the pups, 5 weeks old.

09.01:
On friday we visited Jeanette & the pups again, and met two more of the puppybuyers. I am so pleased they are going to such lovely homes!
The pups are still looking incredible (completely objective of course...). We managed to take some pictures and a short videoclip. However, my PC has resigned and retired way too early- so I have had some major problems updating. I have bought a new  Mac (which is a whole new world for me), and my homepageeditor and the Mac don't really agree on how things are done....
I have however (with good help of my husband and sister- thanks!) managed to update nevertheless before the weekend was through- as promised. The video will however have to wait a bit, but it will come!!
Enjoy the pics of the pups on their own pages.
Names and owners will be published sometime during the next 14 days.

The pups 5 weeks old

05.01:
The pups are developing in express-speed, and we do like what we see. They are all looking very nice, and are happy & outgoing with great appetite. These are some pics Jeanette has taken this past week:

I will visit them again on friday together with some of the puppy-buyers, so more individual pics- and also stacked pictures and a video will come during this weekend.

01.01:
Happy New Year to all of our friends!! Can't wait to see you all again in 2011.

01.01: We ended the year with a Christmasshow in Letohallen under judge Denis Kuzelj.
Ellen came down with her lovely girls Mille (Kingwanas Entertaining Story) and Luna (Bulldobas Be My Valentine) who are both having false pregnancy and a bit chubby with boobs *lol*

Gunn came with sweet Gudrun (Kingwanas Fabulous Unicorn) pictured on the right, Ingrid came with the lovely Krona (Kingwanas Glory Of The Spotlight), Jørgen came with handsome Fogo (Kingwanas Flirting Figaro), and Anette came with Kasko (Kingwanas Gentle WiterKnight). In addition Jeanette & Erling were there with a lovely bouquet of basenjis, and there were a few other good lookers entered too- all in all 11 basenjis. A descent number for a "small" show. We shared basenji cookies and had a good time before the judging statrted.
The judge was very strict, sending out all juniors before me with a 2nd in quality. I was quite nervous, as Kasko had never been on a show before in his life, and we'd only had some 30 min. to train before we entered the ring. He couldn't understand why the judge wanted to move his feet around like that, and hurried to move them back, but was very sweet and well mannered nevertheless. He gaited like he had never done anything else, and got a 1st quality! I was soo pleased! All other juniors were sent out with a second, so he won the class and got his Ck!
The champion male did not get the ck, so he ended up being BEST MALE WITH CC in his debut- for a very strict judge!
In junior class, I got to handle Gudrun. She is a lovely little lady, and got a 1st in quality, and was placed second in her class, only beaten by Krona who won the class with Ck. Krona has developed sooo nicely! It will be exciting to see what the future holds for her.

From left: Gudrun, krona, Kasko.

In open class I handled Luna who looked like a fat christmas bun ( a very cute christmas bun, but still...) The judge just laughed and said that when she is this fat it is immediatly a Very Good (2nd quality) even if she did look nice underneeth her fat *lol*
Gorgeos Maya (Doberguards Maya Masterpiece) won the open class with Ck. In Championclass Mille won with Ck. It is so much fun to handle Mille, as she gaits like a queen 3 feet ahead. I just have to follow.

Mille showing her beautiful gait.

In the best bitch class, it was Maya vs. Mille & Krona. Maya won, with Mille on 2nd and Krona on 3rd. In BOB/BOS Maya won again, which means that she also won the BASENJI OF THE YEAR 2010 competition! I think I was almost as Happy as Jeanette.

Kingwanas Gentle WinterKnight BOS with CC, Doberguards Maya Masterpiece BOB with CC & BASENJI OF THE YEAR!

We also showed a breeders group consisting of Mille, Krona, Kasko & Gudrun, which was BOB breeders grop with HP and a great critique. Unfortnunately not all could wait for the groups, so we did not compete in the BIS final.

Ellen & Gudrun, myself & Mille, Ingrid & Krona, Jeanette & Kasko.

A fun fact is that of the 11 basenjis only 4 got ck (excellent) these 4 (Kasko, Mille, Krona and Maya) are all either a kid or grandkid of Sunny (Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight).
I have ofcourse got to thank all my friends and puppybuyers for coming with their dogs. THANK YOU! And thanks to all who were helping out in the breederclass :) A special thanks goes to Gunn & Ellen for help with the picture taking!

Dag was the show manager as usual, and Sindre helped out. Notice the text on his back (showmanager jr.)
