We have also written a "Christmas letter", with some highlights of our Kingwana bred and owned dogs achievements in 2008:
From our “E” litter, 5 of the 6 puppies has been shown:
Kingwanas Entertaining Story
"Mille":
As a puppy,
Mille
was shown 8 times in 2008. Out of these 8 shows, she achieved no less
than 6 “Best of breed wins” , EVERY time she won BOB she was also placed in
the group/ and or Best In Show ring. She WON the group 3 times, and her
biggest tribute as a puppy, was going BEST IN SHOW at Letohallen only 5
months old, beating over 300 other puppies of all breeds, and up to 9
months of age. These achievements also made her the CLEAR winner of the
“Puppy of the year award” from the Norwagian Basenji Club*.(Not yet
confirmed)
However, Milles winnings did not stop in the puppy ring. Her first adult show was at the Norwegian Specialty show under judge Mr. Curby, where she went all the way to BEST OF SEX only 9 months and 3 days old! This makes her the youngest Basenji in the Norwegian Basenji klubs history to get a BOB/BOS placing at a specialty show. At this show, she also won the special classes for “Best black/white coat and color”, and for the “Best head”.
Throughout the
year, she has continued her good strike, getting stunning critiques every
time. As an adult, she
achieved 2 x Best of Breed, 3 x “Best Of Sex”, 5 X CC’s (CAC’s), and
placements in the adult and junior group rings.
With this, I am not including her show tour in Sweden/ The World Winner
show, where she was “BEST IN SHOW jr” at the Swedish Basenji clubs’
speciality, where she also won “Best Head”, she was also BOB jr, and BEST IN
SHOW-2 jr at the World Winner Circuit Show under Mrs. Damara Bolte where she
also got the res. CC. She received an “Excellent” (as always) on the World
Winner show.
At the moment, she is leading as “Basenji bitch Of the year”, but we still have one more show before 2009 appears, so we will see.
Mille winning BIS jr. at the Swedish Speciality
JWW-08
Kingwanas Exhausting Federal Xpress "Loke"
Has not been showed as much, but has still
done tremendously well on his limited showing. As a puppy,
he
was shown 3 times. Every time he won BOB, and he got good group placements 2
of these times. As an adult, he has been shown 3 times in Norway, with 1 BOB
and CC, and one 2.nd best dog placement. At the cruft qualifying show, he
won the jr. male class with HP, earning his invitation to compete at crufts
2009.
He was also
showed at the World Winner circuit show, where he became BOS jr, only beaten
by his sister Mille. Even at the world winner show he won the jr. male class
with “excellent” yet again, giving him the title “JUNIOR WORLD WINNER 2008”.
He also won the “Best Brace” competition along with his sister “June” on the
same show.
Kingwanas Evidence Of
Persistence "Esther":
Has only been shown once, at the Norwegian Basenji Klubs speciality show,
where she erned the highest quality (1st)
and was 3rd in the competition class with a great critique.

Esther at NBK's speciality
Kingwanas Endless Adventure "June":
Was shown 3 times as a puppy, with 2 BOB and 1 BEST IN SHOW-2 placement! As
an adult she has received several “CK’s” and “Excellents”.

June going BIS-2 puppy!
Kingwanas Epic Walkabout "Bono":
Has only been shown 2 times in adult class. Both times with 1st
in quality, one of them with CK and BD-2 placement, the other time with
Honor prize.
The 6.th
member of the E-litter,
Bonzo
(Kingwanas Exploring Pathfinder),
will never be shown, as he is neutured, but
he visits the shows along with his mummy from time to time and is just the
sweetest and most loving little Basenji boy imaginable, and gives his mummy
loads of joy!

Bonzo 6 weeks old
N Fin Ch NV-08 Kingwanas Dinari "Dennis":
In 2008, Dennis has
been “on a roll”, and has won 4 x” Best of Breed”, 4 times “Best of sex” 13
x Norwegian
CC’s,
2 Finnish res. Cacibs (will count as real CACIB’s) and 1 Danish res. Cacib,
and group placements. He also earned the title “Norwegian Winner 2008”, and
has thus gained the title “Nor fin u Ch Nv-08” only this year. He is
currently tied with another male about the title “Basenji Of The Year award”
from the Norwegian Basenji klubb, so it all depends on the last show of the
year in late December.
Bulldobas Be My Valentine "Luna":
Our darling little Finnish import, has also managed to
win a few BOB puppy- wins, and also getting group-
and even BIS
placements. As an adult, she has only achieved the best quality (1st).
N u Ch Bulldobas Echo Of Kenya "Echo":
Has been very sparesomly shown in 2008 (after winning best male in 2007) as
we have concentrated on Dennis this year. However, he earned the title
“Norwegian show champion” quite easily in the beginning of 2008. He is also
expecting to become a father to two litters born in Sweden before the year
ends.

Echo with his girlfriend "Vanilla".
Other
Kingwana dogs has also been doing well, and we
get reports all the time from happy owners
J
Thank you for giving us little updates on how things are going! We can for
instance report that our first litter (A-litter, but they didn’t have our
kingwana prefix) turns 10 years on dec 3rd this year! All pups
from this litter are live and doing well. I can for instance report that
“Amy” is still hunting with her family, and “Bella” continues to win shows
even as a veteran J
We are so grateful towards all of our puppy buyers for providing their
Kingwana pups with such loving homes!
Of course,
even though we have had great success with our dogs in the ring this year,
it does not even add up to the way we feel about having become parents
ourselves, as our son Sindre was born on Nov 3rd this
year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone, and
hope you all have a WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!
November:
22nd: For the first time in
years, I did not go to The Norwegian Winner show myself, as I wanted to stay
at home with our son. Dag took Dennis up, and Mille, Luna & Loke came with
their owners.
I was sooo anxious sitting at home, waiting for the results. I do not think
I have stared for such a long time at my phone for ...well...ever.
First in the ring were Basenji junior bitches, as they had another judge
(Martin Croeser). I got tired of waiting, and called just in time for a
"live update" on the placings (given by Mai Lis andersen, as Dag was too
busy photographing- thanks Mai Lis :) Out of the 7 junior bitches,
Mille was
placed 3rd with CK, and
Luna was placed 4th with HP.
Next up was the junior males who, along with the rest of the Basenjis, were
judged by Patti Widdick Neal.
I had been promised a call when the junior males were finnished (I was
anxious to hear Loke's results), so it seemed like a lifetime until the
phone finally rung, and Dag told me Jeanette had something to tell me: And
boy if she did!
Dennis had not only won the champion
class, but also become BEST MALE, giving him the title "Norwegian Winner-08"
(NV-08). I was soooo happy and proud of our little guy, and thankful towards
jeanette- who handled him to his title.

Dennis trotting his way to his new title. his full name is from now on
N Fin u Ch NV-08 Kingwanas Dinari.
Loke didn't do too bad either, going second in a very strong junior male
class with CK :)

Loke (JWW-08 Kingwanas Exhausting Federal Xpress)
We are so proud of our Kingwana pack, and a HUGE
thanks and thoughts of gratitude goes out to our excellent handler Jeanette
Strand (kennel
doberguard) for superb handling of Dennis & Mille (handling
Dennis to the top), and to Ellen Kvernmo for her handling of Luna, and
bringing the girls, and of course also to Anette & Loke. It was very
nice, Dag adds, to meet Dunas new owner and all the other Basenji "folks" as
well. Thank you all for your congrats both on Dennis' title & for the
congrats on Sindres' arrival.

Congrats also to the beautiful BOB winner :)
This weekend, we also had company from Finland, as
Hansu Kytta & Tiina Aaltonen came to stay with us, as they were also
attending the show at Vikingskipet. We had some very nice days together, and
finnished it of with a nice dinner friday evening along with Erling &
Jeanette:

The mood is good after a few glasses of wine after the dinner :)
We have also added some new pics of
Sindre.
16th: After 2 weeks at 3 different hospitals, we could finally bring our son home. We are still not "written out" of the hospital, but are on a "home- hospital", where the nurses comes home to us a few times a week.

On our way home....
We were very weary about how the doggies would greet Sindre, and were very
moved about they're reaction. They got to meet him one at a time, and they
were all very careful, curious and gentle. It was so moving to see they're
recessive body language and gentle sniffing, all the time wagging they're
tail and showing the outmost carefulness. Especially Centa was drawn to him,
and the way she showed him affection and love -and us that she would do him
no harm- almost brought tears to my eyes. She truly does have a way with
children!

Our doggies meeting Sindre for the first time.
16th: We would like to share this lovely pic of Echo
and Vanilla, who are expecting puppies in late December.

13th:
Everything is going splendid here at Kingwanas. I and Sindre are still at
the hospital, because he is premature and still needs some help feeding, but
it looks like we will be going home shortly. Daddy Dag is with us must of
the day, and spends the morning, evening and nights with the doggies at home.
We look forward to introducing Sindre to our little pack of dogs, and are
certain they will greet him with "open paws" :)
We are really enjoying being parents to this little miracle!
We would also
like to give all of our dear Basenji friends both here in Norway and abroad
a huge thanks
for the nice congratulations, letters, e-mails, phone calls, visits here at the
hospital, flowers and presents. It is really overwhelming, and means so much
to us!!! We would not even have dreamed about getting so many warm thoughts
:) You truly are dear friends.
We have added some new photos to
Sindres page.

Sindre would like to thank you all for your
congratulations on his arrival :)
9th:
Loke
(JWW-08 Kingwanas Exhausting Federal Xpress) was BOB with his
first (but not last?) CC at Stord today!
The judge was Per-Erik Wallin (S) who gave him the following critique:
"A really handsome junior, very gazelle- like, beautiful head &
expression.
Correct ears/ carriage, beautiful neck. Strong back, excellent bone
structure and paws. Moves with ease and very effecticve. Friendly
temperment"
Congratulations Annette & Loke! We are so proud of you!
8th. Sindre has now gotten his own PAGE
3rd. 6
weeks + before schedule, our son Sindre decided to meet the world for the
first time.
This caused a bit of drama, involving hospital cars, sirens and
blue lights and over 50 hours in labour,
but when the award is such a
miracle, we would surely og through it over and over!

August:
31st: We have tried out Lure Coursing with our Basenjis! We still can't compete in
LC in Norway, but we can earn the LC licence, and compete for instance in
Sweden.
We were a small bunch of Basenji enthusiasts gathered along with the
sighthounds at Bjerke travbane, and we all had a great time (the dogs in
particular I would say...).
Dennis
was the only one to do the "test run"- and completed with style. It was so
fun to watch his hunting enthusiasm. Now we only have to take two more
approved test runs to get his licence.
The other Basenjis also did very well, and really "gave it all".
Thank you all for a good day, and hope to see you on the LC tracks soon
again. I also have to thank the sighthound club for welcoming us with open

Myself and
Dennis
(Kingwanas Dinari) flew over to Kuopio / Finland to attend a big 3 day
international show. I was actually considering to cancel the trip, as Dennis
was out of coat, but luckily, I decided to go trough with it. We
stayed at Janne and Hansus' place (home
of Timon, Tuuli and Maisa), as they live right next to the show
grounds. Regardless of the show, we had such a nice time, and the
hospitality they showed me and Dennis was just incredible. Thank you so much
Janne & Hansu! Tiina (kennel
Bulldobas) also stayed there for one night, and it was great to meet
you again too, Tiina!

We are so pleased with the results of the weekend, and so proud of our young
boy. He has just turned 2 years, which means the Finnish CC will "rest" so
that once he gets his final Norwegian CC (he just lacks the last little one
taken after 2 years of age) he will not obly become a Norwegian Champion,
but a Finnish one too. He is also well on his way to an International
Champion title, as he now only lacks ONE Cacib from another country.

photoalbum.

Me with our Basenjis; Dennis, Bambi, Echo and Centa.
Centa
has also joined us for some trips to an "old folks home", where a lovely

Luna BOB puppy and BIG 3 puppy!
21st: Nes
national dog show arranged by Norsk Welch Corgi Klubb is always a nice show,
and this was no exception.
Dennis
(Kingwanas Dinari)
was awarded as 2nd Best Male with CC,
Mille
(who is a wee bit fat at the moment, making her just a bit too
heavy) won her class wit a 1st in quality. Baby
Luna also made us proud by not
only going BOB puppy, but also BEST IN SHOW- 6!
(It was an all breed show, with a total of about 200
pups entered. About 50 BOB pups all went straight to the BIS ring where they
placed 10).
judge for both adults and pups was Gunnar Nymann (DK).
Congrats even to
BOB Ch Vicitas Hot And Spicy & BOS Ch Matabichi Chocolatte Almasi.
During the evening we had a wonderful time with good Basenji friends with
good food and nice conversations. Thanks to Jeanette and Erling for their
hospitality, and Kari & Svein for the good company!

Matabichi Excellent Mr. Kota Man BOS, Bulldobas Be My Valentine BOB and
BIS -6
9th: We
travelled to Trondheim to attend an int. show arranged by the Norwegian
Kennel Club. The judge was Marion Spavin (GB).
Dennis
(Kingwanas Dinari)
was awarded with BOB with his 11th CC & 3rd CACIB and the following
critique:
"Good masculine head. Good eye and earset. Good front and feet. Well
balanced. Nice neck and shoulder. Well set tail. Good angulations. Sound,
free mover."

Sweet young
Mille (Kingwanas
Entertaining Story) attended her first int. show, and didn't do much worse.
She was BOS with CC (too young for the CACIB) and got te following critique:
"Lovely feminine head. Good eye and earset. Excellent front and feet. Good
neck and topline. Very good angulation. Nice coat. Sound, active mover."
This means that young Mille at the tender age of 9 months and 10 days
has achieved no less than 2 "big" CC's.... (A "Big" CC is a CC taken at a
int. show or a speciality. You need at least one to get the champion title.)

Dennis BOB, Mille BOS.
Not the best pic of sweet Mille, but it's the only one we have.

9th: We
recieved the Fanconi test results for
Luna
(Bulldobas Be My Valentine) and she is: Probobly a carrier of Fanconi
syndrome. This means she will most likely never develop the syndrome
herself, and -if bred to a "clear" male, neither will her offspring.
5th: We have added a new link, and written some
about a wonderful food supply we use for our dogs called
"Tahitian Noni Juice"
(Norwegian site) under "About us"
(Norwegian site) and "Our dogs".
Interested in information in English? Have a look
here.
We have also added 3 additional links under "links".
5th: After hours and hours of work, my picture
story from our speciality is finnished! (I had to do it twice, as the
computer crashed, leaving nothing to be saved... GAH!) Anyways; You
will find it
HERE:
1st: We have just returned from
a wonderful weekend at the Norwegian Basenji Klub's speciality show in
Finnskogen. We couldn't have asked for better weather, with sun and up to 30
degrees celsius. Well, it was actually a bit too hot, but I've promised
myself never to complain about heat, so I say the weather was lovely, even
though some of the Basenjis were exhausted by the heat.
We had a great mood around the ring, a very entertaining ring secretary (who
had his 5 year anniversary at our show) and a very pleasent judge who
clearly had a passion for our lovely breed.
I must also say I am overly pleased with our results in the ring:
Kingwanas
Dinari: 1, 2 CK, 4th Best Male (from intermediate class) He
also won the special class "Best Wrinkles".
N Ch Bulldobas
Echo Of Kenya: 1, 4 CK (from champion class)
Kingwanas Entertaining Story:
1, 1 CK, 1 BTK, CC, BOS.om unior class) She also won the speciality classes "Best
black/white", Best Head, and was 2nd best in "Best gait".
Kingwanas
Endless Adventure: 1,3 CK (Junior)
Kingwanas Evidence Of
Persistence: 1, 4 (Junior)
Bulldobas Be My Valentine:
2nd best bitch (6-9 months)
All of them have some new pics on their pages.
Dennis' daughter "Ive" (Miss Amazings High Five) also did very well going
BB-2 in 4-6 months as well as winning "best paws". Congrats Camilla!
We are especially proud of young Mille who truly took
her first "adult" show with grace and style. At only 9 months and 3 days,
she is the youngest Basenji ever in Norway to go BIS/ BOS at a speciality
show.

Young Mille was both BOS, Best head and Best black/ white.
We also showed a breeders group, and came 2nd with HP. (4 breeders groups in
total) with a lovely critique:
"As a group they have exeptional heads, sound moving, good earset, size &
bone" Jon Curby.

Our breeder group, consisting of Dennis, and the sisters Mille, June and
Esther.
I am currently working on a picture story side from the speciality show,
but with 824 pictures to process it might take some time. However, I am
hoping to have it done in a few days. The complete results can be found on
our clubs homepage shortly.
I would also like to say congrats to everyone else who is satisfied with the
weekend. Particularly Aina Fongen who went BIS and had her self a new
Champion in Rex Shiraa Av Basenjis 4 real! As well as Gro Udby with Chagmas
Pirate King Black Pearl and Mai Lis Anderssen with Zahleka Lill Red Pumpkin
for BIS/ BOS puppy.

30th: Now we are off to our
Norwegian Basenji Speciality! We just can't wait to meet all you great
Basenji- people again. We have a very exciting judge this year; Mr. Jon Curbu

of our Norwegian Basenjis.
A show update will follow shortly after the weekend.
24th:
Loke
(Kingwanas Exhausting Federal

BIG-2's out of 3 shows! All with good competition and great critiques. This
is his critique from this show:
”9 months elegant male,
ideal height. A very well constructed, well moving male of the very top
quality. Shows himself to his advance.”
Big congratulations to owner
and handler Annette Nilssen. We are so proud of this little man, and look
forward to following his and hus sisters development in adult classes!
We have also added some new pics to his page.

Loke "attacking" owner Anette, trying to get a taste of that Banana. Or
was it a lick- attack on the nose??
10th:

March:
31st: We had along drive over
the mountains to attend The Norwegian Kennel Klubb's International show in
the rainy city of Bergen, located on the west coast of Norway. The long trip
was most definatly worth while, as

Accenmacer (Germany).
