Desember:

30th: We have been to the last show of the year (double show), and quite a good finnish it was. Little Mille (Kingwanas Entertaining Story) has just turned 4 months, and was for the first time old enough to compete. And what a little show star she is! She both ran and staked like a queen, and was awarded BOB & BIG 3.
She got the following critique:

"Feminin bitch of excellent quality and type. Beautiful, well-shaped head with correct proportions. Well placed ears, excellent neck and topline. Well placed tail that is carried correctly with a nice curl. Excellent body and substance. Correct body proportions. Very good mover from all sides. Shows herself with much style. Good coat and color. Nice temperament. Nicely shown." The judge was Frode Jevne (N)

The adults did quite well also, with Dennis as 2nd best male with CC, and Echo as 3rd best male.

On Sunday, Mille was again BOB pup, and this time BIG 4.
Echo also did very well, and was BOB adult with another CC. Echo also made it to the very last cut in the group finals out of a tough group.

16th: The 11th of Desember Dennis became a daddy to 6 lovely basenji puppies at kennel "Miss Amazing" in Sweden. We would like to welcome 3 red males, 1 tricolor male ans 2 tricolor girls to the world.

2nd: We have added a seasons greetings postcard on our webpage. We would like to thank all of our puppy buyers for giving our kids such loving homes, and for keeping us updated.
We would also like to thank our dear breeder friends around the world for such great friendship & cooperation. We would also like to thank all of our other basenji and dog loving friends for... beeing a friend!
We have to be quite pleased with  2007. Kingwana dogs have achieved many great winnings, such as many BOS, BOB, group and BIS- placings: Both here in Norway and abroad. We might also have some dogs on the "Top winning Norwegian Basenji- list", but we still have a show in late Desember before it is all settled.
We also have to mention our wonderful "E"-litter sired by the Aus Grand Champion Arikenji Hot Sumaknight. This mating was a dream come true, and we have great expectations for this litter.
We look forward to an exciting year 2008, with new shows, puppy plans, and if all goes as planned: A new imported member of our family.

November:

20th: We have recieved news that the two last shows Deco (Kingwanas Dodo Darzee) attended he got awarded BOB with CC!! Big congratulations to Deco!

16th: The pups have all left for their new homes, and it is so good to get updates about their many exciting adventures and experiences. The pups all seem to have settled with their new families very nicely indeed. We have also updated with a new picture of sweet little Mille (Kingwanas Entertaining Story) at 11 weeks of Age, and given her a new page under "Our dogs".

October:

23rd: The pups have now turned 8 weeks old, and are starting to leave "the nest". It is so sad to see them go, but we know I will meet them all again, and look forward to many updates from their new homes. We would also like to introduce our keeper girl;

16th: The puppies are growing up so fast, as you can see here, and it is a bit sad to think about the fact that they will only be here or about one more week. They all have lovely personalities, and they surely know how to keep us all occupied at all time!
It turns out that our little red boy has a little overbite, so he will not be going to Finland after all. His new name will be: Kingwanas Exploring Pathinder, after the car he was born in. He alreday has a loving new pet- home waiting or him here in Norway.
You will most likely meet most of his black/white brothers and sisters in the show ring from time to time. Some more then others.


 

13th: Dennis and Axi has been mated! You can read more on your new "Sired by" page.

8th: We have now taken 6 week stacked photos of all the little ones- and let me tell you: Getting 6 6 week old puppies to stand still on the correct way is NOT easy. However, we believe you will be able to see what they look like at the moment.

3rd: Again, we have updated with loads of puppy pictures. They have been outside in the lovely autumn weather for the first time, and they thought it was a blast! So many wonderful things to explore. Our very own Explorer found an empty flower pot, shaped as a broken egg, and found it to be quite suitable for a little nap. Dennis found him, and was sure he had found the first ever Dino- enji!

We have also made a new page with additional photos of the pups.
Some of the pups seem to run more in front of the camera than others. I will try to "hunt" a bit more on the camera shy on my next photo shoot.

Dennis has also gotten some new pictures to his page.

September:

30th: We have updated with new pictures of the puppies 5 weeks old :)
It is not always easy to be a 5 week old puppy photomodel, but we did manage to get a decent photo on the end after all:

27th: We got the results from Echo & Centa's fanconi test today, and they both got: PROBOBLY CLEAR/ NORMAL of Fanconi Syndrome. We couldn't be happier!! They are the first Basenjis in Norway to be tested for the Fanconi gene.
This means none of their offspring will ever be afflicted with the syndrome.


27th: We would like to congratulate "Sunny", the father of our present "E" litter with his 102nd BEST OF BREED- This time it was taken at the biggest show in the Southern hemisphere, the Royal Melbourne show. This is a show that lasts over 10 days, and it is the 2nd time Sunny achieves this title! Way to go Sunny, who also came 4th in the group finals!

23rd: The puppies are growing fast, and they now play and run fast around in their pen. They have also been carefully introduced to our other dogs, wich they thought was great fun!

23rd: We have recieved some new photos of Felix!


16th: We have had a new photoshoot of the puppies, who are now (almost) 3 weeks old. They have all opened their eyes now, and are reacting to sound. They have also started some gentle playtimes with eachother.
Todays photoshoot seemed to be a tiny bit tiresome for some of them:




10th: We have added some new pics of the little ones, who are now two weeks old and really starting to look like puppies. Today we saw glimps of eyes for the first time, and they have started to stagger around in the pen on very shaky feet.

9th: Both Duna & Dennis had their eyes examined, and were both totally clear!

5th: How to name the puppies?

Well, one thing was clear. As this is our 5th litter, all of their names would start with the letter “E”. On previous litters, we have always used names originating from Africa, but this litter came to the world in a somewhat unusual way, and managed to create chaos and headaches even before conception.. Basenjis all the way, aren’t they??

It is really an Entertaining Story, once you are able to look back at it.

For ages we had been admiring Biss Aus Grand Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight, and when Helen and David Veless from Afrikenji Basenjis agreed to send us some frozen semen of his, we were absolutely thrilled. It turned out to be a long process, as tons of paperwork, vaccines etc had to be done before the semen could be shipped. So even though we started planning several months before expected season, when that time approached, the semen was still not on its way. Several phone calls were made, and Helen & David really worked hard trying to get the semen here in time. Fortunately, Centa’s season didn’t come when we had expected it to come.

Finally, 2 months after we first expected her season, we got a mail saying the semen was on its way- and we could trace it on the Fedex tracking system. The very next day Centa came in season! Talk about good timing! We carefully monitored every step the valuable load from “Down Under” took. It visited Asia, Paris and Sweden… And there it stopped. It was scheduled to reach Oslo on a Tuesday, but both Tuesday and Wednesday came and went, but the semen seemed to be stuck in Stockholm.

Both myself, Dag Christer, Helen and David worked like crazy, trying to figure out what had happened, but everyone gave us a different story. Some said it was stuck in Sweden, some said it was in Oslo, and some said it had been in Oslo, and was now on its way back to Australia. This was really a frustrating time, and we were quite upset with the Exhausting Federal Express., who really weren’t very helpful. Alas, the last suggestion turned out to be the correct one. The semen had indeed been in Oslo, but some sort of misunderstanding caused the package to be returned back to Australia. At this time, Centa actually stopped her season. We went to the vet to check what had happened, but he saw no traces of the season.

Meanwhile, the package was back in Australia, and some very helpful workers at frozenpuppies.com , who were in charge of the shipping, reloaded the semen into a new container, and added new liquid nitrogen, so that they would manage their Epic Walkabout around the world and back to Norway once again.

When the semen was on its way again –believe it or not- Centa started her season again. This time, everything went smoothly, and the assistance and help we got from FedEx this time was truly unbelievable. The manager personally monitored the package, keeping us updated, and when it arrived, they shipped it in a private car to our veterinarian in Oslo. Just a few days after the semen had arrived, the insemination was successfully done, and we could do nothing but wait and see if our hard work had payed of. 3 weeks later, the ultrasound showed 5 puppies on the monitor. An x-ray taken on day 57 showed the same number. On day 59, Centa came into labour, and the first little Explorer- a red boy-was born in the car in the middle of the night on the way to the veterinarian. The rest of the puppies were born in the puppy pen. But there were 6 puppies born, not five as we had been told. 3 beautiful girls, and 3 handsome boys. I must admit, though, it was indeed a pleasant surprise to have 6 instead of 5! We look upon every one of them as a true Evidence Of Persistence. We would never have believed such a good outcome of frozen semen that had been twice around the world!

Now we are eager to see how they develop. Their Endless Adventure ‘s merely begun….

5th: We have posted some new pics of Duna.



2nd: Even though we have puppies at the moment, it is important not to forget the other little Rascals. I was suggesting to Echo, Bambi and Billy (the sheltie) to go for a little walk, but it was cold and dark outside, so the Basenjis weren't too eager to go. When I tried to insist, Echo ran into hiding under the livingroom table (which really isn't high at the low point!). Bambi looked upon his behavior as a great invitation to play:


Echo is hunting... And Bambi is charging.....


This results in a big struggle, which Echo wins. He fought of the enemy, and celebrates with a great Broooooooooooooooooooooooooo!


2nd: We have posted new photos of the puppies, 1 week old. The youngsters are growing fast, and have now doubled their birth weight. Some have also started to get pigmentation on their noses. Their names will be published shorlty....



We have also posted some new studio pictures of Duna and Echo.

August:

29th: Everything is going splendidly in the puppy-pen. The little ones are eating, sleeping, stretching, yawning, eating and sleeping some more, and well.. that's about it for the time being. Just wait a couple of week and they will have transformed to tiny rascals! Centa is a great mummy for them. She lies with them 24/7, cleans them, feeds them and looks after them. - There has to be serious dealmaking involved to make her come outside for short, necessary visits to the "toilet".
We have now posted some new individual shots of the little ones. They can be sen here.

27th: The puppies are born! To let you all know what happened, I can post the letter I sent to a few after the birth:

"Exciting news…The puppies between N u Ch Century and Aus Grand Ch Afrikenji Hot SumaKnight are here! Centa started to get restless at about 10.00 PM last night, and 11.00 o’clock, her water broke. She was panting and pushing and very restless for a long time after this- but no puppy came. When it got close to 1.00 AM, we decided to rush down to our vet, who got up in the middle of the night for us. The first little boy- a stunning red- was born in 150 K’s an hour on the highway at 1.10 PM. We cut his umbilical cord at the vets office, she checked Centa, and gave us the OK to drive home to have the others. Once we got home, out came a beautiful black girl. Just 10 min. later came a handsome black boy. She had a long break after her- poor girl- she was very tired at this point. But an hour and a half later came another stunning black girl. As I was cleaning the pen, suddenly the last little black girl was out…

So in total:1 red male, 1 black male, 3 black girls

I am very, very pleased. They are all strong and healthy, with beautiful, parallel markings.
I am quite tired now, so I’ll try to get some sleep. Just had to share this joyful news! Oh, and thank you once again Helen, David (and Sunny) for paying so much work into realising this. And- for letting me use your wonderful boy. It truly did pay off!"

However, the number of puppies mentioned in this letter turned out not to be completely accurate, so I had to send out a new mail....:

"Looks like I hit the send button a bit too soon- the moment I hit it, Centa started having contractions again, and another little black man joined the pack! This one is also a strong boy with very nice markings. And I -who was so certain I’d have 5 as both the ultrasound and x- ray pics taken just a few days ago showed that number…."

And what a nice surprise that little last boy was! I must say- 6 puppies out of frozen semen who has been around the world twice (for those of you who know the amusing story) is really not bad!

The puppies are all gaining weight, and they are an even bunch. Their birth- weight lied between 210- 250 g.

26th: Added a picture to our photoalbum.

24th: Echo became BOB with CC and also BIG-3 at KSS show in Bærum. Dennis became 4th best male with CK, and also became BOB junior. The judge was Paolo Salvatore (Italy).
It was also great fun to see Matabichi Dazzling N'Doto Asabi getting the BIS puppy!

13th: Some new healthtests are done with these results:
Dennis: HD - A
Thyroid: T3= Normal. T4= A bit low. Tgaa= Negative.
Duna: HD - A
Thyroid: T3= Normal. T4= Normal. Tgaa= Negative.
Echo: HD - A
Thyroid -T3= Normal. T4= Normal. Tgaa= Negative.

We are also planning to get Duna & Dennis' eyes checked and test all our dogs for Fanconi shortly.


12th: Both Duna & Dennis qualified for Crufts at NKK Bjerke. The judge was Christian Juaqetout (France)

5th: Bella (Am/Can/Intl CH Jamadari Amara Donnabella, NA, NAJ ) from our first litter not only won BOB veteran, but also BOS in huge competiotion at the age of 8 and 3/4 at the Western WA Hound Assoc. Well done, Bella, who don't seem to age at all.


9th: We have added some quite enjoyable stories about the everyday lives with a Basenji, written by a puppy buyer, Tonje Midtgård. Unfortunaly, they are only to be read in Norwegian so far. But for those of you who master this language, you can find these stories under "Hva er en Basenji".

9th: We have added two new pic's of Barak, and two new pics to the album.

5th: Show, Nesbyen. Out og 8 Basenjis entered, Echo became best male with his 5th CC, and was finally BOS with the following critique:

“Elegant, short, well formed. Good head with excellent nose structure. Beautiful eyes and ears. Elegant neck and topline. Good, tight tail. Long, elastic hindquarters. Excellent front/ chest. Good coat, color and temperament.”

The judge was Hanne Laine Jensen. We also wish to congratulate Wenche and Bård with Vicitas Go For It, who became BOB.

July:

16th: We have updated with pics and critiques on Duna's, Dennis' Echo's, Goliat's and Idefix's pages.


15th: Another show in Tvååker. Duna was 1/1 with HP. Dennis placed as 3rd best male, and Echo was reserve best male. The judge was Mogens Slot Hansen (Den). Congratulations to Mai Lis and Paul for their new Swedish Champion at this show:

14 th: Another show in Sweden, this time in Tvååker. There were 16 Basenjis entered, and little Duna went all the way from junior class to BOS with the swedish CC! Both Echo and Dennis got CK. Dennis placed as reserve best male, and Echo was 4th best male. The judge was Tom Johnston (GB).



Faraoland Xellent Example was BOB and Kingwanas Duna O'Kande was BOS. Both of them are sired by Mutabarugas Desmond Dekker.

7-8 th: The Swedish Basenji speciality was held in Skara, Simmatorp. The judge was Cheryl Myers Egerton from Canada. Even though it was raining a lot on sunday, we had a lovely time, and were able to return with a nice bunch of prizes. You can see loads of pics, and some results HERE.
In short, these are the results of our dogs:
Kingwanas Duna O'Kande: 1/1 CK. Was among the 7 best bitches (close up to 40 bitches!). Invited to compete in both best head and gait (you needed an invitation to compete). BOS junior.
Kingwanas Dinari: 1/1 CK. Was among the 7 best males (over 30 males). Number 2 in both best wrinkles and eyes. Invited to compete in best gait. BIS junior.
Kingwanas Damili: 1/2 with HP. Invited to compete and WON best head comp. He also won the speciality classes best ears and black/white coat/colour.
Bulldobas Echo Of Kenya: Was placed as 1/3 with CK in intermediate. Well done in tough competition!

For the first time, we also competed in breeders class. We got a great critique, and was awarded with excellent with Honour prize, and was second in competition class.

Congratulations to all winners, thank you to SBS for hosting a great show, and thanks for all of those helping me and making the weekend so great:)

25th of june- 2nd of July:

We would like to share some pics from our fantastic trip to Egypt. This was our second trip, and just as amazing as the first. We spent quite some time searching for Basenji- like items on all the little bazars, but the closest we found, was the healing dog- god- Anubis, who is supposidly a jackal. Excpect for the tail, and slightly longer ears/ snout, there is a certain resemblence:

When we visited the Egyptian museum in Cairo, we spent most of the time searching for Basenji- like items here as well. We found a little dog with pointed ears and a curly tail in one of the cellar rooms- Very exciting! We also found, that at the room for mummified animals, the sign they used to implify a dog-mummy had been found was a little, curly-tailed dog... Unfortunatly, it was forbidden to take photographs there, but we already have this picture:

June:

29th: Centa has been succsessfully inseminated to Aus Grand Champion Afrikenji Hot SumaKnight. Puppies are (hopefully) due August 31st. You can read more on our puppy page.

18th: We have added some new pics to Duna's site & Dennis' site plus added some photos to the album.

17th: At Oppdal Hundeklubbs show, Kingwanas Duna O'Kande got 1/1 with CK, best female, CC, BOB and BIG-4. Kingwanas Dinari (Dennis) got 1/1 CK, Best male, CC,BOS. The judge was Leif Lehmann Jørgensen (DK).

16th: At Surnadal and Rindal Hundeklubb's show in Oppdal, Kingwanas Duna O'Kande got 1/1 with HP, and Kingwanas Dinari (Dennis) got 1/1 CK, Best male, CC, BOB, BIG- 2.
The judge was Nils Molin (Swe).

Yet another lovely weekend :)


5th: We have added a new link, and added some pictures to various sites.

3rd: Our speciality was held in beautiful weather (but heaps of mud), and all the dogs from us was awarded with 1 (Excellent) in quality. Dennis also got the CK (Champion quality). In the speciality classes, Bambi once again retrieved the title as the best red/white (this is the 3rd time!) and Duna was awarded as the best black/white. There are heps of pictures and more information plus the complete results HERE.


Bambi (Zande Fedha) has now achieved the title as the best red/ white 3 times!

2nd: On the kennel club show on the saturday, Dennis was awarded 1/1 with CK and 3rd best male. Duna got 1/1 with CK, and Echo got 1/2 with HP. I was quite pleased with these results considering about 1/3 of the 25 Basenjis entered got a 2nd prize in quality under the strict Myrna Shiboleth (Israel).

 

May:

12th: We had a lovely trip to Kristiansand int. arranged by the Norwegian Kennel club.
.

It is always so nice to hang around our good Basenji friends, please notice Dag Christer's strategic position....

The judge today was Sigridur Petursdottir (Iceland).
There were 18 basenjis entered, 11 females and 7 males.

06th: We have recieved lovely spring greetings from "Idefix" and 8 year old "Bella"

April

22nd. We took Duna & Echo with us to an international show way north of Norway, in Harstad city, arranged by the Norwegian Kennel Club. We flew up with the two dogs, and this went without problems of any kind.

At the show, we met many of the "north norwegian basenjis" with owners, wich was very nice.
We have got to be quite pleased with the results as well:

Duna was placed 1/1 with HP, and was with this the best bitch present,
while Echo was BOB with CC and CACIB!!! Unfortunatly, we didn't have time to stay for the group finals, as our plain left too soon.
The judge was Mona Selbach (N).

14th. We have added some new links.

9th. We had a lovely trip to "Lilla Stockholm" international dog show. We brought all 6 of our dogs, both the ones residing with us, and the ones who lives in other families. They were all good friends, and enjoyed each others company.

It was the first time for our pups in official classes, and they're debut in these classes was done with style. Dennis (Kingwanas Dinari) was placed 1/1 JK with CK and 5 BD.

Duna (Kingwanas Duna O'Kande) was placed 1/1 JK with HP (honour prize). Echo was beautifully handled by his breeder Tiina, but only got 1/3 this time. Centa was also shown again, but she really don't think the show ring is the place to be. Even so, she recieved an "excellent" (1/2 ÔK). We are very pleased that they all recieved "Excellent" (1) in quality. The judge was Ewa Nielsen (Swe).


The 4 dogs that were shown (from us) are relaxing at the show.

It was great fun to meet Echos breeder, Tiina (Bulldobas kennel) again, and also all the Swedish breeders/ basenji owners that were present. Some said they were also coming to Norway for our specialty show, and we are truly looking forward to meeting them again. We also got a chance to see some beautiful basenjis. Congratulations to Tiina for the BOB, and Naranja for the BOS!

We would also like to congratlate Helena (Faraoland) and Mia (Yualara) for the veteran placings. It is truly impressive to see how good looking and fit these "oldies" (dogs and owners...) were.

4th. Echo got a lovely gift today, and as most kids, he was absolutely thrilled...about the cardboard box it came in... He and Centa has been in and out of it ALL DAY, attacking every foot or paw unlucky enough to pass their hiding cave.... Ouch! Stupid little (awfully cute) rascals!



2nd. We have added some new pictures to our photoalbum, and under "our dogs".

March

25th. Huge congrats to Deco and his owners for yet another BOB and also BIG- 3
in a puppy show in the middle of Norway!!

 

20th. We had a lovely trip to yet another show in Letohallen, Eidsvoll.
Dinari achieved BOB and BIG-4 pup in tough competition under judge Gunilla Skallmann (Swe)
Duna became BOS, both with wonderful critiques. What a way to finnish of their puppy- carreers!
They have brought us loads of joy in the show ring, these two happy, yodeling rascals!!
We are really looking forward to follow them- and their brothers development in the official competitions!



Echo achieved 1 in quality, CK (Champion Quality) and was placed BD3 in tough competition under
Peter Rehanek at the same show in Letohallen. Their pages have been updated with pics and results.


15th. Echo has been Hiptested with A/A (Excellent) and eyetested ALL CLEAR.

February

19th. Show, Norsk Boxer Klubb, Eidsvoll:
Echo got CK, CC, 2BD.
Duna was BOB pup and Dinari was BOS pup.

21st. Dinari (Kingwanas Dinari) became BOB, BIG-1 and BIS-2 at Sandefjord Hundeklubbs show today.

Duna (Kingwanas Duna O'Kande) became BOS.
